Crystal Jaing has a Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is Group Leader of Genomics in the Physical & Life Sciences Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She is also the Associate Program Leader on Biodetection and Diagnostics in LLNL’s Biosecurity Center. Her research areas include pathogen genomics, bioinformatics, microbiome, biomarker discovery and predictive biology. She is the developer and project leader of the Lawrence Livermore Microbial Detection Array (LLMDA), the most comprehensive microbial detection platform that detects more than 12,000 species of microbes. She has successfully led multiple research and development programs on pathogen detection, rapid diagnostics, forensic analysis and microbiome. She is the Principal Investigator of a NASA Space Biology funded project titled “Microbial Tracking-2”.
