Dr. Sebastian Krolop, MD, PhD, MSc, is the Global Chief Operating & Strategy Officer (COSO) of HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management System Society), a global not-for-profit organization dedicated to improve health through the best use of information and technology.

Under his leadership as COSO, Dr. Krolop leads the alignment of HIMSS’s operational goals with the organization’s strategic plan. In addition, he guides the direction of HIMSS Analytics, HIMSS Media and foster additional support services in international markets.

With more than 20 years of global experience as a physician, an advisor and as a consultant for health, public services and life sciences he is an international respected expert, bringing together Strategy, Transformation and Transaction.

Sebastian began his career as a physician at the University Hospital of Heidelberg in Germany, working in the anesthesiology department. He progressed further in his career into consulting roles across multiple areas like strategy, digital and innovation consulting.
Sebastian joined The Boston Group being a member of the Financial Services Practice, became partner for health and public services at Accenture for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and partner and vice president at Philips Healthcare Transformation Services, overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In his most recent role before joining HIMSS he was partner and industry lead healthcare and life sciences at Deloitte.

Sebastian’s educational background is vast, having studied medicine both in the U.S. and in Germany. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare management and a doctoral degree in pediatric surgery.
